METRONET & LOCAL JOBS

  • Construction of the Redcliffe Train Station
  • Making our roads safer with a $1.8 billion upgrade to interchanges along Great Eastern Highway, including the intersection with Roe Highway

 

INVESTING IN LOCAL SCHOOLS

  • Provided $5 million funding to Belmont City College for a new Performing Arts Centre
  • $1.3 million in funding to Belmont City College for science laboratories with new working benches and storage spaces
  • $1 million in funding to Belmont City Primary for refurbishment to classrooms and upgrade areas of the school to enhance facilities
  • $2 million in funding to Belmay Primary to enclose the covered assembly area to make the space weather proof.
  • Funding to Clontarf Foundation for Aboriginal boys attending Belmont City College to receive the mentoring and support they need
  • Funding for new roof, air-conditioning and fencing at Belmont Primary School
  • $694k to address priority maintenance works at all public schools in Belmont
  • Rivervale, Belmay, Cloverdale, Kewdale and Redcliffe Primary Schools receive funding for additional education assistants (FTE)
  • New nature playgrounds at Carlisle, Cloverdale, Kewdale and Rivervale Primary Schools
  • Converting classrooms to science labs at Belmont, Rivervale, Carlisle and Belmay Primary Schools
  • Delivered a brand new roof for Carlisle Primary School

 

COMMUNITY SAFETY

  • Extended the opening hours of Belmont Police Station to 7pm to provide better hours of service to the Belmont Community
  • Delivering our Meth Action Plan including road-side drug testing, with a focus on the three pillars of prevention, protection and prosecution
  • Supporting community based crime prevention efforts with extra funding for local councils and not-for-profits
  • Provided $34.6 million for the roll out of personal issue mobile smart devices to police officers
  • Charlotte’s Law’ - which increases the maximum penalty for aggravated dangerous driving causing death or bodily harm

 

SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY

  • Provided $80,000 to the Belmont Bombers Football Club to help them install lighting at their training grounds in Forster Park
  • Gave the Belmont Cricket Club $20,000 to upgrade their facilities and equipment
  • Spent $10,000 to build a fence around Miles Park to protect Belmont Junior Soccer Club players
  • $100,000 contribution to the Hazelmere Hall for extensive renovations
  • Provided $50,000 for upgrades at Selby Park in Redcliffe
  • Helped the Belmont Men’s Shed purchase $20,000 worth of equipment to work on new projects
  • $6 million commitment to restoring the iconic, heritage-listed Ascot Kilns

THE ENVIRONMENT

  • Saved wetlands adjacent to Garvey Park, ensuring that they’re retained as parkland and not used for residential development
